For District Adminstrators

HeartData™ is a privacy-first SEL + STEM curriculum for grades 5–9 that teaches students how the body responds to stress using real-time heart rate biofeedback and data analysis.

Program at a Glance

Grade Levels: 5–9
Program Length: 10 lessons (approximately two weeks)
Subjects: Math, Science, SEL, Health, Physical Education
Implementation: Classroom instruction, counseling programs, or MTSS Tier 1–2 supports
Technology: Wearable heart rate monitors; optional iPad/iPhone app
Materials: Student workbook, heart rate monitors, HeartLight learning tool, optional staff training

Students collect and graph their own heart rate data while learning about the stress response system and practicing evidence-based self-regulation strategies. The program is classroom-tested and aligned with middle school math, physical science, and CASEL social-emotional learning standards.

HeartData™ is a FERPA-compliant instructional program designed for schools and educational settings, with optional use by counselors and wellness professionals.

At the core of the program is the “Get to Know Your Heart” workbook, where students learn about the neurobiology of the stress response while collecting and graphing their own heart rate data. Students create visualizations and short analysis reports reflecting on how different self-regulation strategies influence their physiological responses.

While wearing a heart rate monitor, students test and evaluate at least 10 self-regulation strategies, including breathing exercises, movement activities, and sensory grounding techniques. They conduct a pre- and post-regulation analysis by measuring their heart rate before and after applying each strategy. They then graph their top 5 results using a bar graph to compare changes in heart rate and identify which strategies most effectively support self-regulation based on measurable differences in their heart rate data.

This hands-on, privacy-first program supports self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and academic learning—all while protecting the privacy of every student.

Turnkey Wellness Package for Schools
This package provides an evidence-based solution to support student mental health and behavior regulation. Designed for Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions, it integrates seamlessly with your school’s SEL framework.

At the core of the program is the HeartLight learning tool, which works with the Rewire: Heart Rate Biofeedback app and a wearable heart rate monitor. Students use the system in counseling sessions or at home to build self-awareness and practice self-regulation strategies. The Dome makes changes in heart rate visible in real time through seven color levels: warmer tones indicate elevated heart rates, while cooler tones reflect calming and recovery.

With regular practice, students strengthen their ability to downshift from stress, prevent dysregulation, and build lasting resilience—a foundation for both academic success and lifelong well-being.

🎯 What It Does

The nervous system made visible. The Dome reflects changes in your heart rate in living color. After measuring your resting heart rate, the display shifts toward warmer or cooler colors to show how your current heart rate compares to your baseline.

This site-level toolkit helps students:

  • Understand their stress response system using real-time heartbeat biofeedback
  • Build self-regulation habits through guided twice-daily practice
  • Develop skills in emotional tracking, sensory grounding, and mindfulness
  • Engage with NGSS-aligned math practices by analyzing their own biofeedback data

Key Educational Benefits

Self-Regulation Skill Building
Students practice evidence-based regulation strategies through guided observation and reflection, helping them recognize how their nervous system responds to stress and how different activities influence their physiological state.

Math & Data Literacy Integration
Aligns with 6th-grade Common Core math standards (6.SP.1–6.SP.3) as students collect data, plot line and bar graphs, analyze patterns, and interpret changes in their own heart rate data.

Inclusive & Non-Stigmatizing Approach
Designed for whole-class participation, allowing all students to build self-awareness and regulation skills without identifying or labeling at-risk students.

Flexible Technology Options
Works with wearable heart rate monitors that display heart rate directly on the device. Schools may optionally use the Rewire iOS app on iPads or approved devices where available.

Pricing & Implementation Options

HeartData™ can be implemented as a site-level pilot program or scaled across multiple schools within a district. Schools may choose between print-based or digital workbook formats, depending on technology access and budget.

The HeartLight learning tools and wearable heart rate monitors are reusable across classes and student groups, allowing schools to implement the program over multiple terms while minimizing ongoing costs.

Districts interested in multi-school implementation, pilot programs, or regional training rollouts can contact us to discuss volume pricing and professional learning support.
