Teach Students About Their Own Stress Response Using Real Data

The HeartData Program is a classroom-based system that helps middle school students measure physiological response, graph results, analyze patterns, and apply scientific inquiry to their own neurobiology and stress response.

Designed for schools, the program includes a printed workbook, classroom heart rate monitors, and a 90-minute faculty onboarding training to support implementation.

What Students Do

Students engage in a structured learning sequence where they measure physiological response, graph their data, analyze patterns, and apply scientific reasoning to understand how their body responds to stress, focus, and recovery.

MEASURE • GRAPH • ANALYZE • APPLY

How It Works

  1. Students collect heart rate data using wearable monitors during guided activities
  2. Students graph and analyze their data using structured workbook exercises
  3. Students apply scientific concepts to interpret patterns in their own physiological response

What Schools Receive

  • Printed student workbooks
  • Classroom set of heart rate monitors
  • Structured lesson sequence aligned to NGSS and math standards
  • 90-minute faculty onboarding and implementation training (Zoom)

Why It Matters

This program connects science, math, and student experience in a way that makes learning immediately relevant. Students work with real data from their own bodies, strengthening engagement while building data literacy and scientific reasoning skills.

The program also serves as a behavioral training experience, helping students develop self-awareness and self-regulation through structured observation, reflection, and guided practice. As students learn to identify patterns in their physiological responses, they build practical skills for understanding stress, focus, and attention in real time.

By integrating physiological awareness into academic learning, the program supports student understanding of stress and focus while fitting within existing science and math instruction.

Standards Alignment

HeartData™ is designed to support classroom instruction through structured, standards-aligned learning experiences. The program reinforces key aspects of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) through crosscutting concepts, science and engineering practices, and disciplinary core ideas related to structure and function, information processing, and engineering design.

Students engage in activities that involve data collection, graphing, pattern analysis, scientific observation, and applied inquiry, supporting integration across middle school science, math, and student support settings.

A detailed lesson-level standards alignment document is available upon request.
