Lead

Building the system gets half the job done. The other half of the job requires training. Whether it’s developing a simple ed-tech, pdf-based product, or designing elaborate LMS-integrated, auto-assessment, flipped-hybrid systems, the solution isn’t complete until all the users are happy.

Instructor Knapp’s training partnerships leverage support from educational technology industry leaders to provide learning-intensive retreats that cater to busy educators. Hands-on seminars model current empirically researched pedagogy and train faculty on district and campus-specific technological solutions to align the principals of student-centered learning and assessment through the integration of an intuitive online user-interface, multimedia assets and “cloud” learning components.

Retreat Option 1: Language Arts for a Multilingual World

Flipped hybrid teaching and learning kits will quickly enable Language Arts faculty to redesign their courses with effectively sequenced online instructional components and related formative and summative assessment data collection tools. View “flipped” teaching and learning kits here: http://www.instructorknapp.magcloud.com/  . Option One is an online, interactive training with a live Zoom video conference. Includes training for an unlimited number of faculty utilizing campus-based computer lab and/or training space.

Retreat Option 2: Using the Bright Mobile Application to Teach and Practice Self-Regulation

A one hour training, followed by a hands-on workshops helps get educators up and running with a trauma-sensitive practice.  Using the latest research in the fields of neuroscience, Bright helps educators build inclusive brain-friendly lesson plans that incorporate mindfulness, reflection and community in the classroom. Educators design scaffolded trauma-informed (neurosequential) pedagogical models using district-specific Common-Core aligned curriculum. Option Two is a Five-day Intensive Retreat: at a local hotel with conference space. Select industry sponsors will conduct a half-day product demo.

Retreat Option 3

Designed to fold mindfulness and mastery practices into our campus assessment processes, these retreats transform “compliance-based” assessment systems into mindful, reflection-based retreats where faculty can learn the latest technologies that help them efficiently gather accurate data, but also explore learning science, growth mindset practices, language-based pedagogy, and self-regulatory strategies. Hands-on portion of the workshop focuses educators on incorporating Carol Dweck’s growth mindset into daily teaching and learning practices.

All retreats include Educational Technology Leader sponsors to ensure that teachers obtain the technology and training they need, but also to make sure the time away from busy classrooms allows them to master these valuable tools and integrate them into their practice while keeping the end-user (the student) in mind.

Sponsors

Educational Technology Leader sponsors provide 10-20 minute hands-on experiences for faculty to demonstrate potential uses for technology. Faculty are then given time to practice with tools in teams and obtain one-on-one instruction from Technology Leaders.
